Labrador Iron Mines Limited

LIM is a leader in the reactivation of the iron ore industry in the Schefferville/Menihek region in the prolific Labrador Trough. Production at the James mine and Silver Yards processing facility commenced in June 2011.

LIM's mine operations are seasonal, from approximately the beginning of April to end of November, with a planned winter shut down from approximately the beginning of December to the end of March each year. Approximately 175 people are employed throughout the season at the mine site and process plants, mainly working for Labrador Iron Mines' contractors and sub-contractors.

LIM operates the Schefferville Iron Ore Projects according to its Newfoundland and Labrador Benefits Plan (the "Plan") approved by the government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Under the Plan LIM is committed to ensuring the majority of job opportunities are available to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. Consistent with the Plan, LIM is committed to achieving a 25% aboriginal participation and 20% participation by women.
